Swami Vigyananand ji, Founder & Global chairman of world Hindu Foundation (WHF) and chief organizer of world Hindu Congress committed to promote swachh

Work & progress of swachh Devalaya Started

swachh at sathsanghs in public places in Nov. 2006 (on seeing a mess of footwear) and later at temples in 2009

Expanded swachh devalaya, launching in social media and multiple temples in June 2014 and Nate became a living example of Mahatma Gandhi’s words “Be the change you want to see in the world”.

Swachh Devalaya is supported and hailed by devotees, temple management, the priests and several organizations as “noble” work.

Nate is a familiar figure at various temples and events in Atlanta wearing a swachh devalaya vest. Nate visits near-by temples regularly at peak hours and temples far away for festivals. Nate also visits various social events in the community to network and promote awareness for better civic sense.

In the process he has met with several leaders – Indian Ambassador Hon. Arun Singh in 2016, the Consul General Hon. Nagesh Singh (2015 to 2018) – who in his farewell address praised the work of swachh Devalaya, Consul General Dr. Swathi Kulkarni (2018 to date), Dr. Subramaniam Swami, Sri Vikas Swarup (author of Slum dog millionaire), Swami Tejomayananda ji former head of Chinmaya Mission.

Various temples & organizations have honored the work of swachh Devalaya – North America Shirdi Sai Temple Of Atlanta, Sri Mahalakshmi temple of Atlanta, Ambhaji Shakti Mandir near Atlanta, Shiv Mandir, Sanatan Mandir, Maharashtra Mandal of Atlanta, Bengali Association, Sewa-International Atlanta, Indian American Cultural Association (IACA)etc.

For maintaing swacch Nate attends events like garba (attended by about 5000 people) and Ganesh utsav

He attends events organized by various regional associations to promote awareness, walking around wearing his swachh vest and distributing the flier to many.

Nate is blessed by his guru Swamini Svatmavidyananda, (disciple of Pujya Swami Dayanand Saraswati) for promoting swachh Devalaya. Swamini has known Nate from 2006 when he started the movement.

The movement to promote self-discipline and self-esteem is gaining momentum with organic change and awareness among children too for 5S (sort, straighten, shine, standardize, sustain) which is ingrained in the Japanese culture and adopted in multi-national manufacturing factories.

Nate believes in “Just Do it”, results never guaranteed. (karmani eva adhikaraste, maa phaleshu kadachana )

Only together we can lift the mountain of apathy, only Lord Krishna can lift a mountain by himself.

Leaving the lights on for all, hoping one day the community will promote awareness and ensure that we follow swachh.
